I caught the glare. I know I'm going to get when I tell you Mike and Ike have split up. Mike wants to pursue a music career and Ike wants to be an artist. The company is doing everything they can to keep them together. After all, who wants to break apart a great tasting candy like Mike and Ike? I know my teenage son would be heartbroken. He has loved Mike and Ike's since he was little. While I am a chocolate lover, my son has always preferred Mike and Ike's.
Since my son has always been a fan of Mike and Ike's candy, we jumped at the chance to review the original fruits. I liked the cherry and lemon flavors which surprised me since I usually don't like cherry or lemon candy. Neither was too sour, a plus for me since I like sweet more than sour. I liked the chewy centers. The orange doesn't take a lot like orange. In fact, few of them tasted like the fruits they were supposed to. The lime was my least favorite, weird as I like lime better than lemon. All of the flavors are sweet and not tangy like the real fruit.
My son likes all of the flavors and is definitely a much bigger fan than me. He hates sharing the red ones so it's not hard to figure out which are his favorite.
I love the theater size boxes. They are easy to pack around and take to the movies. I have also been giving them out instead of party bags at my children's birthday parties for several years. The kids love them much more than a bag full of trinkets and in the long run, it ends up being much cheaper. Sometimes I buy a variety of different theater box candy, but when I do, Mike and Ike's in any flavor are always the ones that go first. It seems my son isn't the only one who loves them.
The family owned company, Just Born, has been around for eight decades, manufacturing great candy in the U.S.A. and employing over 500 people. With such a large candy company, I can totally understand why they might be distraught over Mike and Ike's split. They want to know how you feel about it too. Make sure you enter the CONTEST where you can submit your reaction to the breakup. With your help, the Just Born Candy Company can keep Mike and Ike together and continue to bring you more great varieties of Mike and Ike, like the Berry Blast or the Tangy Twisters.
