| California's Fruits & Nuts Tray |
The number one product my readers hate to find produced outside of the United States is food. At Bella Viva Orchards®, they understand the importance of growing food in the United States and keeping it here. From the Central Valley of Northern California's rich farm land, Bella Viva Orchards brings high quality fruits and nuts to the U.S. market. They know the importance of supporting local gourmet eateries and include food from their local partners in their dried fruit baskets.
I can attest to the quality of Bella Viva's products. I received the California's Fruits & Nuts Tray to review. The two trays included three pounds of dried fruits and nuts.
With so much good food, it's hard to know where to start. Ahh...what to eat first? It was tempting to start with what I thought I might like the best, but alas, I took a more methodical approach and started left to right with the sun dried fruit. The dried peaches were large and meaty. I absolutely loved the soft inside. So much dried fruit is tough all the way through, but none of the Bella Viva fruit was that way. Next came my two favorites, the prunes and pears. I couldn't get my teenage boys to touch the prunes. Yeah, this left more for me. The prunes were naturally sweet and sticky, exactly the way I like them. I loved the fresh tasting inside. The pears were by far the sweetest and a family favorite, even with my teenagers. They disappeared quickly. The dried apricots had just a little bit of tang mixed with the sweet of the natural fruit. It's not very often I find dried plums and nectarines, but the Bella Viva tray included these as well. Like the other fruit, the plums and nectarines had a soft center and a delicious taste. Eating the fruit was a delicacy, a special gourmet treat. I can't find dried fruit this good around my house so I'm thrilled to find an online order source. I even packed a few pieces and took them on a long bicycle ride with me. They gave me the mental and physical energy I needed to tackle my last hard hill climb.
The second tray, full of pistachios and almonds, was a hit with my teenage boys. I especially liked the pistachios. It seems like every time I buy nuts, I bite into one that tastes rotten. With the Bella Viva nut tray, it didn't find even one pistachio that remotely tasted bad. The same was true with the lightly salted almonds. Both varieties were fresh and tasty.
